A Commitment to Efficiency

A $5.8 million investment in the biomass project represents only the latest effort by Green Mountain College to reduce its carbon footprint. Conservation is another key component in the College route to climate neutrality.

Over the past decade GMC has invested an average of $1.2 million per year in infrastructure projects to improve the energy efficiency of our facilities, including window replacements, steam line upgrades, lighting retrofits, and new electrical system.

The combined effect of these changes was a significant reduction in carbon emissions per student.
