At the heart of the College’s environmental mission is the 37-credit Environmental Liberal Arts general education curriculum, which all GMC students complete. Experiential learning is also central to a GMC education: Students are encouraged to gain hands-on experience through internships, service-learning opportunities and study abroad programs. Interdisciplinary block courses allow students to spend an entire semester working with professors from multiple disciplines on a single area of focus, often through field research, overnight outings, discussions with experts and a culminating project. Sustainability related and focused courses, as identified using definitions from the Campus Sustainability Council, can be found here.

SCGF Projects
The Student Campus Greening Fund has allocated funds to a number of projects this fall including: an Eco-Rep program that will fund students to plan and engage in sustainability related activities in residence halls; a bridge in the Dean Nature Preserve and a freezer that will allow more food for the dining hall to be sourced locally.

Power Shift 2011
This spring thousands of young people will converge in Washington, DC for Power Shift 2011. Students will come together to create a vision for this social movement, learn from and train one-another on campaigns and tactics, and take bold action to create a clean energy economy.
