Education that promotes an understanding of sustainability is most effective when the living environment enhances concepts students learn in the classroom. Green Mountain provides students with place-based education that treats the campus as a living laboratory. This encourages students to deepen their understanding of sustainability in practice as well as in theory.
Throughout the core curricula and across disciplines, GMC students may choose from a number of courses focused on or directly related to developing an understanding of sustainability. Twenty-six Green Mountain faculty are engaged in direct research to improve society's understanding of sustainability. Both in the classroom and throughout all Green Mountain activities, social, economic and environmental sustainability is prioritized to deepen students understanding and practical application of these concepts.
