GMC Mission
Green Mountain College prepares students for productive, caring, and fulfilling lives by taking the environment as the unifying theme underlying its academic and co-curricular programs. This innovative interdisciplinary approach to liberal arts education is grounded in the institution’s strong tradition of effective teaching and mentoring, and is complemented by a diversity of community-oriented campus life opportunities. Strategic Plan
Green Mountain College demonstrates its commitment to social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainability by prioritizing them throughout strategic planning. Strong administrative leadership creates a culture of environmental and social ethics. Components of the Strategic Plan include:
A student engagement model emphasizing relationships between curricular and co-curricular programs. The environmental liberal arts core curriculum prepares students to apply what they learn in the classroom throughout campus and community life.
The development of green facilities and natural areas plans for the college. This encourages everyone to participate in making buildings, energy systems and the landscape reflect the principles of sustainability.
